Social Media Terms of Use

Our accounts are monitored during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.

We may hide or remove content that:

• is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, obscene or defamatory;
• contains personal attacks, or the personal information of another person;
• is spam or commercial advertising;
• promotes a candidate or election campaign; or
• is false or misleading information likely to cause public harm.

We apply these rules the same way to everyone. We do not remove content only because it criticizes the County, Council or County decisions.

If someone repeatedly posts content that breaks these terms, we may, as a last resort, restrict them from interacting with our accounts for a set period.

Comments, messages and other content posted to our accounts, including content we hide or remove, are County records. They are managed under the Access to Information Act and the Protection of Privacy Act and may be disclosed under those Acts. Please do not post personal information about yourself or others. Information you post on these accounts is collected under the authority of section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act to communicate with residents and respond to questions.
