Council Meeting Highlights

September 9, 2026

A Regular Council meeting was held on September 9, 2026, at the County Administration office in Vegreville.  Council approved the following resolutions:

Addition of Meeting Items to the September Council Meeting Agenda

County Council moved the meeting agenda be adopted as amended with the addition of item 6.2 Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and item 6.3 Tax Forfeiture Property Bid Acceptance under Requests for Decision.

Letter of Support - Go East of Edmonton Regional Tourism Destination Marketing Organization Designation

County Council approved to provide a letter of support to Go East of Edmonton Regional Tourism Organization (RTO) for their Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) application through Alberta Ministry of Tourism and Sport.

Strategic Plan 2026-2030

Council approved the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, incorporating the vision, mission, values, goals and strategic priorities outlined in the plan, and directed Administration to proceed with implementation.

Tax Forfeiture Property Bid Acceptance

County Council accepted the bid of $15,500 for tax forfeiture property described as Lots 13-15, Block 6, Plan 8103S in Ranfurly.

Invitation to Support Special Areas Board Advocacy for Highway 36 Safety

County Council moved to support the Special Areas Board in their advocacy efforts with other municipalities along the corridor for alternate passing lanes on Highway 36, and that Administration advise the Special Areas Board of the County of Minburn's participation as a signatory on their letter to the Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors.

2027 Cost of Living Adjustment COLA

Council approved a 3.0% COLA for eligible County employees effective January 1, 2027 and that the associated financial impact be incorporated into the 2027 Operating budget; and further moved that Administration offer participation in the Alberta Public Executive Pension Plan (APEX) to the occupants of the Director 2 positions, subject to the terms and conditions of the Plan and applicable legislation.
