October 21, 2024


A Regular Council meeting was held on October 21, 2024, at the County Administration office in Vegreville.  Council approved the following resolutions:

2025 Hamlet/Highway Cleanup Program

Council approved the 2025 Hamlet/Highway Clean-up Program as presented.


Road Closure Bylaw No. 1353-24 

Council approved first reading to Road Closure Bylaw No. 1353-24 for the purpose of closing to public travel and disposing portions of a public roadway in accordance with Section 22 of the Municipal Government Act (MGA), Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000, Chapter M-26.


Cemetery Survey Change Order

Council approved the change order for the Cemetery Survey Project for a total of $71,100 as presented.

 

Letter of Support

Council approved to provide a letter of support to Go East of Edmonton Regional Tourism Organization for their application to the 2025 Travel Alberta Rural Development and Promotion Fund.

 

Gravel Haul Contract

Council approved a three-year extension of the gravel haul contract with Ken-X Energy, with the costs for 2025 remaining the same as the 2024 contract, and further, that the 2026 and 2027 contract costs be measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

 

Interim Borrowing Bylaw No. 1352-24

Council approved three readings to Interim Borrowing Bylaw No. 1352-24 to provide for the ability to borrow $4,500,000 from ATB Financial for the 2025 fiscal year if required.

 

Additional Financial Institutions for Investment Purposes

Council approved the Bank of Montreal and the Bank of Nova Scotia as approved financial institutions for investment purposes.

 

2024 Tax Sale – Reserve Prices and Conditions of Sale

Council approved the reserve prices and conditions of sale for the 2024 Tax Sale as presented.


Physician Recruitment Grant Funding Request

Council approved to provide a grant in the amount of $4,000 to the Vegreville Region Physician and Health Professionals Attraction and Retention Committee.

 

Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Club – In-Kind Donation Request

Council approved to provide a culvert to the Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Club as an in-kind donation as per their request.
