August 17, 2026
A Regular Council meeting was held on August 17, 2026, at the County Administration office in Vegreville. Council approved the following resolutions:
Minburn Landfill Phase II ESA
County Council directed Administration to pursue Phase II Environmental Site Assessment for the Minburn Landfill.
ATCO Electric Utility Within Road Allowance Special Request
County Council approved ATCO Electric's request to install their utility within Range Road 160 as per the plans submitted.
Repeal Policy PDS 7001-01, Rural Broadband
County Council moved to repeal Policy PDS 7001-01, Rural Broadband.
Subdivision File #09-2026
County Council conditionally approved subdivision file #09-2026 per the recommendations of the report.
Lavoy Homecoming Harvest Funding Request
County Council denied a financial contribution of $717.17 to the Lavoy General Store in support of the Lavoy Harvest Homecoming event.
2026 Community Centre Grant Funding Program
County Council approved the allocation of $63,000 to non-profit organizations as presented under the 2026 Community Centre Grant Funding Program.
2026 Recreation Grant Funding Program
County Council approved payment of the 2026 Recreation Funding in the amount of $243,300 to the 6 external organizations as presented.
Mannville Ag Society Funding Request
County Council approved Mannville and District Agricultural Society's funding request in the amount of $50,000 to assist with their emergency roof repairs, with funding to be advanced from their allotted 2027 recreation funding.
ACE Water Rate Reconsideration Request
County Council rescinded Resolution No. 2026-185; and further approved the request from Alberta Central East (ACE) Water Corporation to purchase water through the Minburn truck-fill station at a rate of $4.50 per cubic metre for the duration of the temporary fiveday construction project, limited to a maximum of four truckloads per day.
Vegreville Road Rehabilitation
County Council directed Administration to include the estimated rehabilitation costs for Vegreville Road in the proposed 2027 budget for Council's consideration.
2027 Capital Equipment
County Council approved the purchase of three Cat 160 Graders at a total cost of $1,950,000.00 (excluding GST), and that these graders be approved and included in the 2027 Capital Budget; and further, that Units 326, 335, and 336 be sold by tender following delivery of the new graders.
Motion Following Notice of Motion - Addition of RHPAP Conference as an Approved Council Conference
County Council approved the addition of the Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP) Conference to the list of pre-approved conferences and conventions under the Elected Officials Business Expense Policy CC 3013-03, with consideration of this amendment to occur at the 2026 Organizational Meeting and authorized two members of Council to attend the conference.
Advocacy for Flood Recovery Assistance
County Council directed Administration to prepare and send a letter to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food requesting financial assistance and support programs for agricultural producers adversely affected by flooding during the 2026 growing season and advocating for timely relief measures to help address crop losses, increased production costs, and the economic impacts on affected farming operations.
Innisfree Charter School Society re Financial Support Request
County Council denied Innisfree Charter School Society's request for financial support and directed Administration to provide a reply to the Innisfree Charter School Society advising them.
Town of Vegreville Request for Rezoning
Council denied the Town of Vegreville's request for rezoning the former museum property and directed Administration to notify the Town of Vegreville accordingly.
