Council Meeting Highlights

January 23, 2025


A Regular Council meeting was held on January 23, 2025, at the County Administration office in Vegreville.  Council approved the following resolutions:


Public Hearing to Hear Bylaw Enforcement Officer Bylaw No. 1359-24

Council approved Second Reading of Bylaw Enforcement Officer Bylaw No. 1359-24, and further directed Administration to hold two Town Hall meetings, one in Minburn and one in Innisfree for public engagement prior to final reading of the Bylaw.


Road Encroachments on CNR Property

Council approved to enter into a lease agreement with Canadian National Railway for the encroachments on Township Road 502A in the Hamlet Minburn and Township Road 512A in the Hamlet of Ranfurly.

 

Road Closure Bylaw No. 1353-24

Council approved Final Reading of Road Closure Bylaw No. 1353-24.


Subdivision File 09-2024

Council moved to conditionally approve Subdivision File No. 09-2024 per the recommendations of the report.

 

Subdivision File 10-2024

Council moved to conditionally approve Subdivision File No. 10-2024 per the recommendations of the report.

 

Bridge File 01865 Repair Tender

County Council approved including BF 01865 in the 2025 bridge repair tender at an approximate cost of $383,000.00, including engineering and contingency, with any cost overage to be covered by Bridge Reserves.


Fleet Truck Tender 2025

County Council approved the purchase of one half-ton F150 4X4 from Vegreville Ford for a cost of $53,275 and one three-quarter ton F250 4X4 from Vegreville Ford at a cost of $62,046 excluding GST.

 

Bylaw No. 1354-24 Weed Control on Provincial Highways

Council approved three readings to Weed Control on Provincial Highways Bylaw No. 1354-24 which rescinds Bylaw No. 714-1973.

 

Bylaw No. 1355-24 Warble Control Area

Council approved three readings to Warble Control Area Bylaw No. 1355-24 which rescinds Bylaw No. 668-1971.

 

Bylaw No. 1356-24 Rescinding Warble Control Area Amending Bylaw No. 679-1972

Council approved three readings to Bylaw No. 1356-24 Warble Control Area and that Amending Bylaw No. 679-1972 be rescinded.

 

Bylaw No. 1357-24 Agricultural Appeal Committee

Council approved three readings to Bylaw No. 1357-24 establishing an Appeal Committee for agricultural concerns.

 

Agricultural Service Board Terms of Reference

County Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Agricultural Service Board.

 

Education Requisition Deferral and Repayment Terms

Council approved repayment of the 2025 education requisition deferral for non-residential property by increasing the non-residential education tax rate equally over a two-year period in both 2025 and 2026

 

County of Minburn and County of Vermilion River Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) Extension

Council authorized the agreement amending the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework Agreement with County of Vermilion River to extend the term of the agreement from 2024 to 2027.

 

Candidate Nominations to be Accompanied by Deposit Bylaw No. 1360-25

Council approved three readings to Bylaw No. 1360-25 for Candidate Nominations to be Accompanied by a Deposit and that Bylaw 912-83 be rescinded.


Election Bylaw No. 1361-25

Council approved three readings to Elections Bylaw No. 1361-25 and that Bylaws 1351-21, 1225-13, and 959-86 be repealed.


Town of Vegreville Annual Family Day Breakfast

Council approved $250 be given for advertising costs in addition to the $250 previously given to assist with the annual Family Day Breakfast.
