Canada’s Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP) offers up to 50% funding support to a maximum of $1 million for initiatives that help the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector address emerging challenges, adopt innovative technologies, improve sustainability, and strengthen sector capacity. In exceptional cases involving public safety or high-priority sector initiatives, funding support may reach up to 75% of eligible project costs.
Eligible applicants include Canadian incorporated not-for-profit organizations such as associations, cooperatives, and marketing boards, Indigenous groups, and provincial, territorial, or municipal governments. For-profit organizations may be considered where projects demonstrate broad sector-wide or public benefits.
Projects must align with at least one of the following priority areas:
- Adaptation to new technology
- Environmental sustainability
- Strategic development and capacity building
- Emerging issues affecting the agriculture sector
Eligible expenditures include:
- Employee salaries and benefits
- Consulting and contracted services
- Travel and accommodation
- Capital equipment and specialized software
- Shipping, translation, and knowledge transfer costs
- Conference and registration fees
- Administrative expenses (10% flat-rate allocation)
Projects must demonstrate measurable benefits to the Canadian agriculture sector, including increased competitiveness, innovation, sustainability, or improved sector resiliency, and be completed no later than March 31, 2029.
Applicants are required to complete a pre-screening application before being invited to submit a full application. Total government funding from all sources may not exceed 85% of total project costs.
