Council Meeting Highlights - July 21, 2025

A Regular Council meeting was held on July 21, 2025, at the County Administration office in Vegreville.  Council approved the following resolutions:

Unit 915 Replacement

Council approved $165,000 from fire reserves for the replacement of Unit 915, a 2006 Ford F550 rapid response style apparatus, as part of the 2026 Capital Budget.

East Central 911 AFRRCS Upgrade Capital Advance

Council approved a funding advance of $8,350 to East Central 911 Call Answer Society to upgrade their dispatch console to be AFRRCS compatible.

Mannville Sea-Can Storage Project

Council approved an additional $5,500 for the Sea-Can Storage Project at the Mannville Fire Hall.

Capital Equipment 2026

Council approved the purchase of two CAT 160 Graders for $1,335,000 and the refurbishment of an existing scraper at a cost of $679,951 as part of the 2026 Capital Budget.  Council also approved the disposal of two existing graders, Units 326 and 330, upon delivery of the new graders.

2026 Bridge Repair/Replacement Program

Council approved the 2026 Bridge Program which included the authorization for MPA Engineering to complete the preliminary engineering on six bridge files in 2025 at an estimated cost of $79,000.

Policies

County Council approved the following new policies:

  1.    Community Recognition Policy CC 3015-01
  2.    Mobile Device Policy AD 1030-01
  3.    Work From Home Policy AD 1032-01

County Council amended the following existing policy:

  1.    Proclamation and Recognition Policy CC 3012-02 to recognize “Alberta Rural Health Week” by proclamation.

County Council repealed the following policies:

  1.    Policy CC 3006-01 – Recognition Plaques/Certificates/Other
  2.    Policy CC 3004-01 – County Solicitor
  3.    Policy CC 3009-01 – Elected Officials Education Program

Letter to Federal Minister of Agriculture

Council directed Administration to send a letter to the Federal Minister of Agriculture, with a copy to Rural Municipalities of Alberta, on effective/approved gopher control methods to once again include the use of strychnine.

Letter to Provincial Minister of Agriculture

Council directed Administration to send a letter to the Provincial Minister of Agriculture, with a copy to Rural Municipalities of Alberta, regarding the continued support for on the farm slaughter/sales
