News Release: County Receives Provincial Funding for Bridge Replacement Project
County Council was pleased to receive Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) funding from the Honourable MLA Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk to support the replacement of Bridge File (BF) 72570.
Located on Township Road 524 at the entrance to the Vegreville Regional Airport, the single-span concrete bridge was originally constructed in 1959 and is now 67 years old. Due to a low bridge rating advisory, the structure is scheduled for replacement with a bridge-sized culvert to ensure continued safe and reliable access for residents, businesses, and airport users.
The project has an approved total cost of $512,000, with STIP funding contributing $367,500 toward the replacement.
County Council expressed its appreciation to the Government of Alberta and MLA Armstrong-Homeniuk for their support of local infrastructure. This investment will help maintain a key transportation link in the region and support the long-term sustainability of the County's roadway network.
