COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS JULY 15, 2019

A regular Council Meeting was held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the County Administration office in Vegreville.  Council made the following resolutions.

 Gravel Stockpile Site

Council approved to allow the continuation of the gravel stockpile site located on the north-western portion of Lot 1, Block 9, Plan 062 1770, zoned Direct Control (DC) district, for a period of five years, effective July 15, 2019 and expiring on July 5, 2024.

BF 79688 Replacement – Accept Lowest Tender

Council approved to authorize the County of Minburn CAO to accept the lowest tender bid for the replacement of BF 79688 located on Range Road 100 north of Township Road 502 at the tender opening on July 29, 2019.

Records Management Bylaw No. 1289-19

Council approved first, second and third readings to Records Management Bylaw No. 1289-19 to provide for the maintenance, storage retrieval, retention and disposition of County of Minburn records, as well as a corresponding policy.

Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) Capital Applications

Council approved to submit a grant application under the 2019 MSI Capital Program for the 2019 Road Gravelling Program in the amount of $543,778 (former Basic Municipal Transportation Grant (BMTG) portion, and 2019 Gravel Purchase for the amount of $780,005.  Exact 2019 MSI funding allocations will be confirmed after legislative approval of the program budget in November 2019.

 BF 79688 Replacement

Council approved to fund the replacement of BF 79688 located on Range Road 100 north of Township Road 502 through the 2019 Gas Tax Fund (GTF).

Letter of Support to Vegreville Rotary Club

Council approved to provide a letter to the Vegreville Rotary Club supporting their Skate and BMX Park development to assist them in their grant application submissions.

Cancellation of Bad Debt Expense/Apply for the PERC Program

Council voted to expense as bad debt $2,129,922.72 from outstanding oil and gas tax arrears and direct Administration to apply to the Province of Alberta for the Provincial Education Requisition Credit (PERC) Program to recover previously remitted education taxes for these properties.
